Statements from Syrian Leaders:
-Syrian caretaker Prime Minister Eng. Mohammad al-Bashir: We were assigned by the General Command to run the Syrian government during a transitional period. This assignment aims to receive government files and institutions, ensure the return of workers to them, and activate their role, in a way that contributes to providing services to our people in free Syria.
The caretaker government was formed from a number of ministers of the revolutionary government, which is the Syrian Salvation Government. This government is a temporary caretaker government that will continue until March 2025, until the constitutional issues are decided. The tasks of the caretaker government are to maintain security, preserve the stability of institutions, and ensure that the state does not disintegrate. It also seeks to provide basic services to the people, until a new government is formed for Syria that achieves the aspirations of Syrian society. Our people deserve to live a dignified life and to be provided with the best and highest quality services. We hope that the ministers in the government of the deposed regime will be of assistance to the honorable ministers during the transitional period, especially with regard to handing over files, to ensure the continuity of providing services to our people without interruption. There are major challenges, but our previous experience in managing Idlib Governorate and the surrounding areas has given us extensive experience, which has contributed to refining the human resources and cadres that we possess, which makes us capable of bearing this great responsibility that has been entrusted to us.
-Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani: After liberating the eastern and western countryside of Deir al-Zour and the escape of the regime forces and Iranian militias from them, we announce that the city of Deir al-Zour and its military airport are completely liberated. Our fighters continue to advance in the areas and towns of Deir Ezzor countryside after taking control of the city center and the western and eastern countrysides.
-Ahmad Al-Shar’a: We will not hesitate to hold accountable the criminals, murderers, security and army officers involved in torturing the Syrian people. We will pursue war criminals and demand them from the countries to which they fled so that they may receive their just punishment. We will announce List No. 1 that includes the names of the most senior officials involved in torturing the Syrian people. We will offer rewards to anyone who provides information about senior army and security officers involved in war crimes. We have affirmed our commitment to tolerance for those whose hands are not stained with the blood of the Syrian people, and we have granted amnesty to those who were in compulsory service. The blood of innocent martyrs and the rights of detainees are a trust that we will not allow to be wasted or forgotten.
-Damascus University calls on all its academic and administrative staff to return to work to continue their work, stressing its keenness on all its staff so that we may be hand in hand in the stage of building the new Syria.
